Elegance, spirit, and intelligence sum up the character of this Arabian horse. One of my first horses was a grey Arabian that looked very much like the horse I etched here. The fossil walrus ivory cab, a crosscut, shows the distinctive oatmeal looking center (secondary dentine) surrounded by varying colors of light brown that radiate from the center. This effect, combined with the fine craze marks, makes this a unique, original scrimshaw piece.
This one-of-a-kind Arabian Horse pendant is walrus ivory, 1 1/2” x 7/8” with a sterling silver bail and chain, packaged in a gift box.
Note: The fossil walrus ivory was excavated from the permafrost by native Alaskans and is estimated to be 500 – 3000 years old.
