Description

This knife bolo tie with its outstanding bark mammoth ivory handle will allow you to dress-up for any occasion. Subtle, yet distinctive, this string tie has darker vertical lines where the mineral vivanite leached into the ancient material. The vivanite contrasts nicely with the lighter brown hues.

The knife blade itself is stainless steel, with a smooth blade bevel without a sharp edge.  Thus, it’s not a functional knife and eliminates possible cutting accidents.  Gary Smith, the custom knife maker who fashioned the actual knife bolo tie, has his logo etched into the blade.

The 6-ply leather cord is a luxurious 42” in length, which is long enough to be appropriate for a big or tall person. The stainless-steel tension bolo back allows for ease in sliding the bolo up and down and adjusting securely for a comfortable fit.

The stainless steel tension bolo back allows for ease in sliding the bolo up and down and adjusting securely for a comfortable fit.  Finally the bolo tips are brass bullet casings and make the perfect finish to this most extraordinary tie.

Mammoth tusk material from the last ice age (10,000-40,000 BP) has been stabilized and pressure treated for strength and durability.

Care for your Knife Bolo Tie:

I recommend you never wear a scrimshaw piece in swimming or the shower. Not likely for a bolo tie, I admit. Did that thought give you a little chuckle? But this next part is pertinent to the bolo tie. It is best not to leave genuine ivory pieces sitting in direct sunlight or exposed to intense heat, like that of a vehicle in the summer.  Ivory is a natural material and deserves to be cherished.  I use the most permanent inks available for my artwork and I have applied several layers of Renaissance wax to preserve the colors.   Each Knife Bolo Tie comes ready to wrap in a gift box.
