Description
This stylized Celtic Seahorse, or dragon of the ocean, is a symbol of good luck. The horses head combines with a fish’s tail, and all intertwined with Celtic style knots. The Celtic Seahorse is a creative symbol of courage and a safe adventure at sea. Since the origins of scrimshaw are also “at sea” isn’t this the perfect combination?! https://www.astrologyoftheancients.com/celtic-seahorse-meaning/
This one-of -a kind hand scrimshawed seahorse is on an acrylic canvas. The details stand out beautifully on the black etched background and the subtle color in the “horse” add just the right dimension.
This piece measures 1.5″ round and comes on an 18-19″ velvet cord necklace. This striking Celtic Seahorse is the perfect good luck charm for that sailing person in your life, or maybe that’s you!
To care for your scrimshaw, I recommend you never wear this piece in swimming or the shower. Also, for genuine ivory pieces it is best not to leave it sitting in direct sunlight or exposed to the intense heat, like that of a vehicle in the summer. Ivory is a natural material and deserves to be cherished. I use the most permanent inks available for my artwork and I have applied several layers of Renaissance wax to preserve the colors. The pieces made using water buffalo have a durable acrylic coating. Each hand etched piece comes ready to wrap in a gift box.
